For nearly two decades, SKZ and ENTEX have been collaborating on challenging research and development projects across the entire extrusion process chain. Key areas of focus have included the simulation of planetary roller extruders, the reliable metering of tuft-like fibers for sustainable compounds, and the processing of conductive thermosets for the production of bipolar plates.
Focus on reactive extrusion and recycling of silicone elastomers
Currently, the partners are particularly driving forward the further development of reactive extrusion processes on the planetary roller extruder. The focus is on a continuous recycling process for silicone elastomer waste, which enables a significant reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional methods, as there is no need to convert the material back into monomer structures. The project thus addresses key challenges of the circular economy in the plastics industry.
Technology Transfer: From Research to Industrial Plastics Processing
“The collaboration with ENTEX is characterized by a deep understanding of the processes and a shared commitment to translating innovative solutions into industrial practice,” explains Dr. Johannes Rudloff, Head of the Materials, Compounding, and Extrusion Division at SKZ. “ENTEX’s technological expertise is a decisive factor in the success of our projects.”
Award for Innovation in Extrusion and Sustainable Plastics Processing
Sebastian Rust, Managing Director of ENTEX Rust & Mitschke GmbH, adds: “The close integration of application-oriented research and industrial implementation is a key driver of our innovative strength. The award confirms the path we are taking together and motivates us to continue driving forward future challenges—particularly in the area of sustainable extrusion processes.”
