System 1 / 1+
For products that are particularly relevant to safety, e.g., load-bearing components. Here, a notified body tests the product and regularly monitors production. In System 1+, regular product testing by a notified body is required.
System 2+
Monitoring of factory production control (FPC) by a notified body.
System 3
The notified body inspects the product, while the manufacturer is responsible for production control.
System 4
For low-risk products. Self-testing and self-certification by the manufacturer—external testing is not necessary.
