Regulatory requirements, new material systems, and growing pressure to adopt a circular economy are demanding a fundamental change in corporate thinking. From May 4 to 6, 2026, the SKZ Plastics Center's “Sustainable Leadership” workshop will show how managers can strategically embed sustainability and effectively shape transformation.

Companies in the plastics industry are currently facing far-reaching challenges: Political initiatives such as the European Green Deal, the National Circular Economy Strategy (NKWS), and the REACH Regulation, as well as rising expectations from customers and stakeholders, are changing value chains and business models. Many companies have long been aware of the need for more sustainable business practices. However, the decisive factor is how this change is implemented in concrete terms. This is precisely where the new workshop “Sustainable Leadership – Impulses for Cultural Change in Companies” offered by the SKZ Plastics Center comes in.
Focus on bioplastics and the circular economy
The seminar provides practical impulses for anchoring sustainability not as an isolated measure, but as an integral part of corporate culture and daily activities. Participants address key issues facing the industry: What benefits and opportunities do bio-based plastics offer? Which transformation paths are realistically feasible? How can resistance be dealt with and how can sustainability be effectively anchored in the company?
In the workshop, managers analyze their individual status quo and develop strategies for sustainable implementation in everyday business life. “Sustainable transformation is one of the greatest challenges of our time and can only succeed if managers take responsibility and consistently integrate sustainability into their leadership work,” emphasizes Dr. Hermann Achenbach, Head of Sustainability and Circular Economy at SKZ in Würzburg and workshop speaker. “Participants will be specifically empowered in their role as designers of change processes and sensitized to industry-specific challenges.”
From impulse to implementation in everyday business life
In addition to in-depth content, the workshop focuses on practical implementation. Participants reflect on their role as decision-makers and develop concrete strategies for effectively involving employees in transformation processes. The intensive exchange with like-minded people provides valuable inspiration, clear objectives, and initial measures with which sustainability can be anchored in the company in the long term. “A special feature of the workshop is the conscious change of perspective—away from their familiar working environment, participants experience sustainability in the learning space of the forest,” adds Achenbach.
The workshop will take place from May 4 to 6, 2026, at the Schloss Wasmuthhausen seminar center in the Coburg region. The price of the seminar includes two nights' accommodation and full vegetarian board (breakfast and evening buffet as well as a 3-course lunch menu).
