The German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) is Germany’s national accreditation body, which ensures that organizations such as testing, inspection, and certification bodies competently carry out their activities in accordance with internationally recognized standards, legal requirements, and relevant regulations. Thanks to this increased flexibility, accredited testing laboratories are now able to incorporate new or modified test methods into their portfolio within specified parameters without having to apply to the competent accreditation authority each time for a review to modify or expand their scope of accreditation.
The flexibility of scopes of accreditation can generally be categorized into three different levels.
The SKZ testing laboratory holds flexible accreditation in Categories III and I. In the future, the accreditation categories will be renamed. The current Category III will then be designated as Category A, Category I will become Category B, and the highest category, Category II, will be renamed Category C. This new naming convention is intended to enable a clear and simple classification of the various accreditation levels. For you as a customer, this will not change the high standards or the quality of the testing procedures; however, it will make it easier to navigate the different accreditation classes.
Testing laboratories are permitted to use the standardized test methods listed in the certificate, even if they are from different editions.
Your benefit: Flexible Category III accreditation ensures that we work in accordance with the latest state of the art. This allows us to consistently adhere to the most recent standards and enables us to quickly and efficiently integrate changes resulting from updated standard requirements into our processes.
Includes Category III and allows testing laboratories to freely select standardized test methods or equivalent methods within a defined test range.
Your benefit: Flexible Category I accreditation allows you to independently expand the scope of accreditation following prior internal validation/verification of the procedure (e.g., analogous national standards such as ASTM, OENORM...). This results in faster response times to individual needs for accredited testing procedures.
By the way: We can offer far more tests than those listed in the appendices to the partial certificates. You can find an overview of the current scope of accreditation for the SKZ testing laboratory in our list of standards.
