Focus on Sustainability, Recycling, and Digitalization

PVC is one of the world’s most important plastics and is simultaneously facing major changes: The use of recycled materials, new sustainability requirements, environmental disclosure standards, and digitalization are placing new demands on materials, processes, and machinery. The symposium “Processing PVC – Technology and Application,” taking place on November 10 and 11, 2026, at the SKZ in Würzburg, will showcase current developments and practical solutions for PVC processing.

“Processing PVC” Returns to the SKZ in Würzburg Under New Leadership

The two-day program focuses on the circular economy and sustainable material concepts, PVC recyclates, and modern extrusion, coating, and processing technologies. Topics such as new solutions for pipe manufacturing, films, and sheets, as well as the processing of recycled materials, highlight concrete approaches to more resource-efficient production.

Digitalization of PVC Processing
Another key focus is the digitalization of PVC processing. The spectrum of technologies presented ranges from inline quality assurance and self-optimizing extrusion processes to AI-supported methods, virtual reality, and digital and 3D printing.

“PVC processing must balance sustainability, resource efficiency, and cost-effective production. Digitalization and intelligent process control offer significant opportunities in this regard,” says Christoph Okon of REHAU Industrial Solutions SE & Co. KG, who is chairing the conference for the first time. “We want to showcase which solutions are already working in practice today, while also fostering discussion about the next steps in development.”

Presentations on Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)
The program is complemented by presentations on Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), sustainable surfaces, surface analysis, and new recycling processes. The event thus covers the entire spectrum from material development and processing to product information and circular economy practices.

In addition to the technical presentations, the focus is on personal exchanges with experts and industry colleagues. A joint evening event in downtown Würzburg offers an additional opportunity for networking.
