The precise tolerancing of plastic components is a key skill for product developers. In addition to the actual product development, the correct specification of tolerances ensures that components can be manufactured not only functionally but also economically. To meet this growing challenge, SKZ is now offering the course “Standard-compliant tolerancing of plastic components” at several of its locations – including Würzburg, Peine, Halle (Saale), Horb am Neckar, and EZD in Selb.
The course teaches the specific requirements for tolerancing principles for plastic products. Participants learn how to apply general tolerances in accordance with ISO 20457 and the basics of form and position tolerancing in accordance with ISO 1101. The aim is to enable participants to interpret drawings confidently and assess the information presented in terms of its significance and manufacturability. In addition, participants are empowered to contribute technically sound arguments in discussions with toolmakers, product developers, and end users.
“The demand for practical expertise in the field of tolerances is constantly increasing. Companies are faced with the challenge of defining realistic and standard-compliant tolerances with suppliers and customers. With our course, we lay the foundation for successful cooperation along the entire value chain,” explains Dr. Ruben Schlutter, course instructor at SKZ. “By offering the course at various SKZ locations, we reduce travel time and costs for our customers and increase flexibility.”
The course is aimed at designers, product developers, and all specialists involved in the development and manufacture of plastic products.
