Since 1967, the Würzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the SKZ Plastics Center have been working closely together in the field of vocational training. A central component of this cooperation is the joint training of industrial foremen in the field of plastics and rubber technology. While the IHK is responsible for the organizational, economic, and legal aspects, the SKZ handles the technical and practice-oriented components of the training.
Several thousand skilled workers trained in Würzburg
Over the decades, several thousand skilled workers have been successfully trained in Würzburg. In this way, the partnership makes an important contribution to securing a skilled workforce in the plastics industry.
Expansion of the educational offerings: “Industrial Technician in Additive Manufacturing”
The collaboration was recently expanded to include another forward-looking educational program: the “Industrial Technician in Additive Manufacturing.” This program was developed to specifically address the growing demand for qualified specialists in the field of additive manufacturing. The SKZ continues to be responsible for core technical content and practical modules, thereby contributing to the program’s high relevance and quality.
Combining tradition and innovation
“The collaboration with the IHK Würzburg-Schweinfurt is a true model of success. For nearly six decades, we have been jointly designing high-quality technical continuing education programs—always practical, always at the cutting edge of the industry,” explains Robert Held, Group Leader for Education in Injection Molding and Additive Manufacturing at the SKZ. “The successful launch of the Industrial Technician in Additive Manufacturing program demonstrates how well we combine tradition and innovation.”
With the “Premium Partner Education 2025” award, the SKZ underscores the importance of the IHK Würzburg-Schweinfurt as a reliable and innovative partner in vocational training and skilled workforce development.
