Interlaboratory tests are an essential tool for quality assurance in testing laboratories. They enable an objective comparison of test results from different laboratories and serve as proof of technical competence and performance.
In the latest comparison, the SKZ achieved very good results in almost all the tests carried out. The Z-scores determined were significantly below the critical threshold in almost every test area, thereby confirming the high degree of agreement between the measurement results and those of other qualified testing laboratories. Thanks to this outstanding overall performance, the SKZ remains listed as a qualified testing laboratory on the BMW B2B portal.
The SKZ has been listed since 2019 for the BMW Group standard GS 93016 in the field of plastics and thermoplastics. For the approval of raw materials and materials, the BMW Group requires not only extensive technical specifications but also testing by an accredited laboratory.
“The results once again demonstrate the high quality of our testing activities, as well as the technical competence and expertise of our laboratory team,” explains Dr Marcus Heindl, Head of the Testing Laboratory at SKZ. “The successful re-qualification confirms that our testing procedures deliver reliable and reproducible results. This is an important prerequisite for the development and validation of high-quality plastic components in the automotive industry.”
Interlaboratory tests ensure the comparability of test results
Interlaboratory tests are an important part of quality assurance in modern testing laboratories. For accredited testing laboratories, regular participation in relevant proficiency tests or interlaboratory tests is mandatory. They enable an independent assessment of testing performance and demonstrate how reliably and reproducibly a laboratory operates in comparison with other qualified laboratories.
With decades of experience in materials and component testing, SKZ offers companies in the automotive industry comprehensive services in material characterisation, quality assurance and product development. The successful re-accreditation as a BMW-recognised testing laboratory underlines SKZ’s position as a reliable partner for testing and development tasks across the entire value chain of plastic products.
