With its “Premium Research Partner” award, the SKZ Plastics Center retroactively honors companies each year that have distinguished themselves through exceptionally trusting, innovative, and successful collaboration in research. HAIP Solutions GmbH has now been honored with this award for 2025.

The cooperation between SKZ and HAIP Solutions is part of the SpectralAIge research project. In this joint project, several project partners are pooling their expertise to develop AI-supported spectroscopic methods for the precise detection of aging processes in plastics.
HAIP Solutions is developing a powerful LIF-HSI (LED Induced Fluorescence HyperSpectral Imaging) system for this purpose, which works with four different LED excitation sources and enables high-precision detection of multispectral fluorescence signatures for aging diagnostics.
In addition, the project uses a SWIR hyperspectral camera system from HAIP Solutions, which allows reliable identification of different plastics – for example, for incoming goods inspection of plastic granulates or for rapid classification of material flows in industrial applications.
According to SKZ, the collaboration between SKZ and HAIP Solutions is characterized in particular by a high degree of innovation, open communication, and the fast and targeted implementation of requirements: "HAIP Solutions combines technological excellence with a remarkable hands-on mentality. The team is highly motivated, thinks ahead, and implements our wishes with impressive speed and precision. This type of collaboration is not a given in research projects – and that is precisely why we want to recognize it with this award," says Dr. Linda Mittelberg, Head of Quality and Life Cycle at SKZ.
The methods developed in the “SpectralAIge” project open up new possibilities in the condition assessment, sorting, and quality control of plastics. The use of hyperspectral technologies not only enables the
early detection of aging processes and fast, non-destructive material identification, but also greater process reliability and efficiency, as well as optimized recycling in the plastics industry.
With the technologies developed there, HAIP Solutions is making an important contribution to transferring research results into industrial applications.
