SKZ awards Günther Heißkanaltechnik the “Premium Partner Research 2025” distinction

With its “Premium Research Partner” award, the SKZ Plastics Center annually honors companies that have distinguished themselves through particularly trusting, innovative, and successful cooperation in research projects. This year, Günther Heisskanaltechnik GmbH is receiving the award for its continuous commitment and significant support of numerous research and development projects.

Award for outstanding commitment in the field of research and development

The collaboration began with an industrial cooperation project to develop a magnifying glass and coffee lid tool made of silicone. Within this framework, Günther provided a double cold runner including the complete cold tool side for LSR. In doing so, the company sent a clear signal early on about its technological expertise and its openness to collaborative development projects.

“The collaboration with SKZ is extremely valuable to us from a technical perspective and is characterized by a very constructive and friendly exchange. In particular, the joint work on practical research questions enables us to further develop new technologies in a targeted manner and validate their industrial applicability at an early stage,” explains Marco Kwiatkowski, authorized signatory and R&D thick film at Günther Heisskanaltechnik GmbH.

Involvement in several SKZ research projects
In the “SilcoDrive” project, Günther is helping to improve component quality in LSR injection molding. The focus is on uniform mold filling, monitoring the pressure curve, and using AI-based methods to ensure reproducible and stable production.

The “BlueHeat” project is currently in the review phase. Günther is already contributing his expertise on innovative, energy-efficient temperature control concepts, thereby actively supporting the further development of modern mold technologies.

Active participation in project-related committees
As a member of the project committee, Günther is involved in the research and further development of paper injection molding. This technology enables the economical production of complex paper shapes and hollow bodies, opening up new applications that were previously unattainable with conventional fiber casting or cutting/gluing processes.

Günther is also contributing to the further development of robust processes in the pbA foaming of recycled materials. The results show how PP recycled materials can be foamed stably despite highly fluctuating material properties. Chemical blowing agents in particular play a key role here in creating robust cell structures and a resilient understanding of the process for industrial use.

Recognition for commitment and innovative spirit
The “Premium Partner Research 2025” award underscores the special role of Günther Heisskanaltechnik as a reliable, innovative, and practice-oriented partner in numerous SKZ research activities. “The close, targeted, and solution-oriented cooperation makes a significant contribution to making new technologies accessible for industrial application—a claim that SKZ regularly emphasizes in comparable partnerships,” says Bernhard Hennrich, research group leader for injection molding at SKZ.
