The new SKZ training course “EU Microplastics Regulation – Requirements of the REACH Restriction and Pellet Loss Regulation” was successfully launched at the end of January and immediately met with exceptionally high demand. Together with UMCO GmbH, SKZ is now responding at short notice and offering additional online dates to meet the great need for information in the plastics industry.

Microplastics enter our environment silently, endangering ecosystems, animals, and ultimately humans. That is why the EU is taking action with the REACH restriction and the new Pellet Loss Regulation, regulating the use and release of microplastics. The EU regulations impose specific and, in some cases, far-reaching obligations on the plastics industry.
Against this backdrop, SKZ and UMCO have developed a compact, practice-oriented live online training course specifically aimed at affected companies. In the half-day training course, participants receive a structured overview of the requirements of the REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, in particular Annex XVII, entry 78 on intentionally added microplastics, as well as the resulting information and reporting obligations that will take effect in 2026. The new Pellet Loss Regulation (EU) 2025/2365, which has been in force since December 2025 and prescribes binding measures to prevent plastic pellet losses along the supply chain, will also be covered.
In addition, the practical requirements for risk management plans, labeling and training obligations, and certification requirements are explained in detail. The speakers will highlight the transition periods and exemptions that exist and how companies can make strategic use of them. There is a particular focus on specific analyses and measures for reducing plastic pellet losses, backed up by real-life examples from industrial plants. In addition, technical and organizational measures are presented that companies can use to adapt their processes to the new regulatory framework at an early stage and in an efficient manner.
The content is taught jointly by experts from both partners. The combined expertise in regulatory consulting and plastics technology not only provides in-depth background knowledge, but also enables specific questions relating to individual companies to be answered. The aim of the training is to clearly classify regulatory obligations and provide companies with specific, actionable recommendations.
"We show what companies need to do now and which obligations apply when. The great response to our first session impressively demonstrates how great the need for information is in the industry. This makes it all the more important for us not only to present the content in an understandable way, but also to supplement it with tangible, practical tips that really help companies," says Heicke Gaedeke, Senior Engineer at SKZ and course leader.
Those who act early create legal certainty, reduce operational risks, and avoid costly short-term changes. Due to the strong demand for the first event at the end of January, additional online events have been added and are now available for booking.
