Project duration
From: 01.07.2025To: 31.12.2027
Description
The leading-technology project Combined joining technologies for high-rate manufacturing of components for the production and power generation of hydrogen for energy supply (KoFü-H2)“ aims to develop technologies for the cost-efficient production of components for hydrogen applications. In this project, in particular using the example of a metallic bipolar plate, metal forming and welding technology is being investigated in sub-project 1 and thermal direct joining for the production of plastic-metal connections in sub-project 2. In collaboration with the Fraunhofer institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS and the Institute for Machine Elements and Systems Engineering (MSE) at RWTH Aachen University, the SKZ is represented in sub-project 2 „Thermal direct joining as a technological tool for media-tight joining of metallic bipolar plates and related H2 applications (H2-Direkt)“. Thermal direct joining has already been investigated for structural applications as part of research projects. In this project, the requirements of H2 applications in particular, e.g. impermeability and resistance to media such as H2, H2O and O2, are being analysed for thermal direct joining. In conjunction with hybrid joints, the focus is also on the development of thin-walled components with wall thicknesses in the order of ≤ 100 µm.
