Fillers and Additives: Innovations for High-Performance, Cost-Effective, and Sustainable Plastics Applications

The SKZ Plastics Center invites you to attend the seminar “Fillers and Additives in Plastics” on November 24 and 25, 2026, at the Seminarhotel Schönau in Peine. The speakers will examine the current challenges facing the plastics industry as it undergoes transformation and will present innovative and practical solutions. In addition, they will provide insight into current developments and future trends in fillers and additives for plastics.

Seminar at the end of November in Peine

The demands placed on plastics are constantly growing. They are expected to be more high-performance, more sustainable, and, at the same time, cost-effective to manufacture. Fillers and additives play a key role in this regard. The SKZ seminar “Fillers and Additives in Plastics,” taking place on November 24 and 25, 2026, at the Hotel Schönau in Peine, will highlight the potential offered by modern material concepts and how they contribute to addressing current challenges such as recycling, resource efficiency, and cost pressures. Experts from industry and research will provide a comprehensive overview of current developments, applications, solutions, and future trends.

Balancing Material Performance, Recycling, and Cost-Effectiveness
Fillers and additives have a significant influence on the properties and processability of plastics. At the same time, they enable the optimization of material costs and help meet increasing sustainability requirements. The seminar highlights current technologies and practical solutions for modern plastics applications.

Focus on Current Industry Challenges
To kick things off, Dr.-Ing. Michael Bosse from CIS Nerchau will provide an overview of the importance of fillers and additives in modern plastic compounds. The program will be complemented by an outlook on the industry landscape in 2026 and the most important market and technology trends.

The focus will be on topics such as material efficiency, rising cost pressures, higher quality requirements, and the integration of recycled materials into demanding applications. Participants will gain valuable insights into how these challenges can be overcome through the targeted use of modern filler and additive systems.

“Fillers and additives not only enable the targeted adjustment of material properties but also create the conditions for greater resource efficiency, the successful use of recycled materials, and cost-effective production processes. Anyone who wants to remain competitive in the future must understand and leverage the potential of modern filler and additive technologies. This is precisely where our seminar comes in, providing practical knowledge for the industry’s current and future challenges,” says Andreas Grzeskowiak, site manager of the SKZ in Peine.

Sustainability and Recycling as Drivers of Innovation
With a focus on the circular economy, innovative compounding concepts and the use of recycled materials are becoming increasingly important. The seminar addresses this development with presentations on additives in demanding recycled material applications as well as on the continuous compounding of functional fillers. In addition to materials science aspects, the seminar also focuses on process engineering issues that are crucial for economical and reproducible processing.

From calcium carbonate to high-performance fillers
The seminar offers a comprehensive overview of current filler and additive technologies for modern plastic applications. It covers both established materials such as calcium carbonates, talc, and titanium dioxide, as well as alternative white pigments and fillers such as lithopone, zinc sulfide, and barium sulfate. The focus is on their properties, modes of action, and potential applications in various plastic systems.

In addition, the seminar focuses on innovative functional fillers. Presentations on electrically conductive systems based on natural graphite, modern flame-retardant solutions, and high-performance fillers demonstrate how plastics can be specifically tailored to meet particular application requirements.

The event is rounded out by presentations on additives for process and property optimization. Topics include waxes and lubricants, pigment dispersion, as well as antioxidant and UV protection systems for the long-term stabilization of plastic components.
