International demand for specialized knowledge remains high

The SKZ offers its training courses worldwide and has thus achieved international success. Demand is currently particularly high in the U.S., for example, for fluoro-welding and for the specialized expertise that the SKZ imparts in a practical manner, even abroad.

SKZ courses are in high demand, especially in the U.S.

The SKZ Plastics Center is consistently expanding its international training activities in the field of fluoropolymer welding. For example, the SKZ facility in Peine is increasingly conducting specialized training courses on the complex joining of fluoropolymers abroad as well.

Fluoropolymers, such as PTFE, are characterized by their exceptional chemical resistance and high-temperature resistance. These properties make them an indispensable material for demanding applications, such as in the chemical industry, semiconductor manufacturing, and even in plant and piping construction. However, properly welding these materials in these sectors requires specialized expertise, as their processing differs significantly from that of conventional thermoplastics. This is precisely where the SKZ comes in with its hands-on training programs.

The training programs are consistently conducted in accordance with established DVS regulations, thereby ensuring a high level of quality and internationally comparable standards in education, while also addressing workplace safety—a critical consideration for joining fluoropolymers. This alignment with German standards represents a decisive competitive advantage worldwide and contributes significantly to the high level of acceptance of the courses.

While fluoropolymer welding has become more of a niche topic in Europe, it continues to play a significant role, particularly in the U.S. The demand there for qualified specialists and in-depth continuing education is correspondingly high. The SKZ is responding to this trend and has been active internationally for many years: For decades now, training courses based on German quality standards have been offered abroad and are constantly being refined.

From July 13 to 17, SKZ instructor Detlef Hellwig was once again in the U.S. to train specialists in the field of fluorine welding. On site, he taught both theoretical fundamentals and practical skills, thereby helping to ensure high quality standards in industrial applications.

“The demand for specialized expertise in the field of fluorine welding remains high internationally. Our training programs combine German quality standards with hands-on knowledge transfer—something that is particularly valued in the U.S.,” explains Andreas Grzeskowiak, site manager of the SKZ in Peine.

This ongoing international presence underscores the SKZ’s role as a globally sought-after partner for training and continuing education in plastics technology. In addition to welding courses, the SKZ offers training in process engineering and other services worldwide—always with the goal of providing skilled workers with long-term qualifications and strengthening their technological expertise.
