SKZ, a member of the Zuse community, is currently conducting research in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP on minimising friction in plastic products through the use of lubricant-filled microcapsules.

The SKZ's Competence Centre for Additive Manufacturing Technologies, which is funded by the Free State of Bavaria, has been supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the introduction and application of the new key technology 3D printing for several years.

Pre-treatment of bioplastics to extend the shelf life of foodstuffs

SKZ and the University of Munich are researching the use of industrial surface treatments of bioplastic films for an antimicrobial electret effect, which is intended to delay the spoilage of packaged food and thus extend shelf life.
