|Today, biopolymers are mainly used in packagings, refuse bags and biodegradable mulch films. The requirement for these products is to disintegrate into their component parts and decompose as quickly as possible once they have served their purpose. However, in the meantime biopolymers have grown up and can be found in more and more intermediate to long-life applications and here the experience is often limited.|
As a competent contact for plastics in long-term applications (water pipes, building products, geosynthetics etc.) and in view of its well-founded wealth of experience in the field of the ageing of plastics the SKZ believes that there is considerable scope for providing support for the development of biopolymers.
