Flame-retardant WPC Products
In addition to its mechanical properties and durability in outdoor applications, fire behavior is among the important but so far little researched attributes of WPC. Since they represent a relatively young material class, there are no sophisticated solutions to realize halogen-free flame retardancy.
This is why SKZ and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing carry out a research which deals with exactly this topic.
The aim of the work is to investigate the effects of different combinations of halogen-free flame retardants in WPC and to explore their potential. As a result, WPC are to be able to be used in areas where a high performance in terms of fire behavior is necessary.
