High-Pressure Capillary Rheometer
The flow behavior of a molding compound depends on the molecular composition of the polymers. To evaluate the processing capacities of a molding compound, it is necessary to determine the shear viscosity function.
With a high-pressure capillary rheometer, viscosities and shear stress in dependence on shear rate and temperature can be measured. The determined data can then be described through material models, such as the Carreau model, and can be used e.g. as input parameter for simulation calculations of injection molding and extrusion processes. Moreover, through comparative testing, statements regarding material degradation can be made.
