Ageing Tests

Plastics are subject to irreversible chemical and physical changes over time. These ageing processes are due to weather influences such as light, water and temperature as well as to chemicals, high-energy radiation or mechanical stress (e. g. tension, pressure, dynamic loads, abrasion). In order to evaluate, compare or predict the ageing behaviour and service life of plastic parts, selected test methods for the simulation of ageing are indispensable.

Our test procedures include:

  • Ageing under constant test atmosphere
  • Autoclave ageing in water of up to 130 °C
  • Alternating climate tests in accordance with different automobile regulations
    (e.g. PV 1200)
  • Fuel resistance tests
  • General chemical resistance tests
  • Heat ageing/oven ageing up to 250 °C
  • Low-temperature ageing up to -60 °C
  • Resistance to environmental stress cracking (ESC), e.g. according to
    DIN EN ISO 22088-3
  • Salt spray test, e.g. according to DIN EN ISO 9227
  • Weathering
