No other group of materials has shaped our society in recent decades as strong as plastics. In many areas plastics already replace traditional materials such as metal, ceramic or glass. This results in a trend to develop highly specialized plastics.

Fortunately, the synthesis of new polymers is not always necessary, because already known and available plastics can be optimized sufficiently, for example by additives. Thus, the portfolio gaps of major manufacturers can be closed by the production of tailor-made compounds in many cases.

The development of such compounds is one task of the materials development group of the SKZ. The SKZ has the ability to process advanced materials with the latest machine technology and to create sophisticated industrial compounds.
